Police investigating a pair of break-ins at Fairfield church, post office
Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, 10 p.m. — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office investigated two burglaries that happened Friday morning in Fairfield. A deputy sheriff was dispatched to the Fairfield Post Office Friday morning after someone apparently broke a window to get into the building. It is unknown exactly what my have been taken from the post office, but sources told the Gazette the post office safe was left intact. Earlier Friday morning, thieves apparently also broke into St. Michael Catholic Church, 111 Church St. This was the second break-in at the church property in the past month. An earlier break-in occurred Sept. 20th.
