Obituary: Alex ‘Sonny’ Jackson, 90, Bardstown

Alex “Sonny” Jackson, 90, of Bardstown, died Monday, May 26, 2025. He was born May 14, 1935, in Cox’s Creek. He retired from G.E. and farmed for many years. He loved going to NASCAR races and enjoyed traveling to many places with his wife and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Alice Jackson; one sister, Barbara Sisco; and one great-grandson, Trent Langley.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 74 years, Louise Jackson; one daughter, Connie Mattingly; one son, Gerry (Glenda) Jackson; one granddaughter, Stephanie (Brent) Langley; three grandsons, Jamie Mattingly, Scott (Tammy) Jackson, both of Bardstown, and Gary (Amie) Jackson of Lexington; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is noon Friday, May 30, 2025, with burial in the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon Friday, May 30, 2025, at Barlow Funeral Home.
