Obituary: Gene Farley, 78, Bardstown

Gene Farley, 78, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at his home. He was born Nov. 12, 1946, in Marion to the late Jesse Franklin and Clara Jewell Holloman Farley. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was self employed, working in construction cleanup for many years. He loved to fish and hunt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Elizabeth Jean Farley, Betty McClure, Valley Mae Vasseur, Debra Fletcher and Bonnie Decker; and one brother, Robert Farley.

He is survived by his companion, Bettie Stump; two daughters, Debra (Michael) Walters and Beverly (Steven Newton) Jackson, both of Willisburg; one son, Dallas Stump of Willisburg; one sister, Sandy Fletcher of Marion; two brothers, Kenneth Farley and Billy Peters, both of Marion; 16 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, June 2,, 2025, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown with Bro. Ray Johnson officiating. Burial is in Highland Memory Gardens.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2025, and 8:30-11 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2025, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
