Obituary: Melissa Ann Johnson, 34, Taylorsville
Melissa Ann Johnson, 34, of Taylorsville, died Monday, May 26, 2025, at Klondike Care and Rehabilitation Center in Louisville. She was born Aug. 5, 1990, in Shelbyville to Ricky Dale and Teresa Mae Lewis Hilbert.
She was a former groundskeeper at Edgewater Resort and was a member of Old Country Church. She enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved her niece, nephews, and her fur babies.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ricky Dale Hilbert; and her mother-in-law, Connie Sue Chandler.
She is survived by her husband, Harry Johnson; her mother, Teresa Hilbert of Taylorsville; two sisters, Daisy (Bob) Cox and Christy (Christopher) Baize, both of Taylorsville; her paternal grandmother, Minnie Cook Curtsinger of Bloomfield; one niece, Jasmine; two nephews, Wyatt and Edward; two friends she helped raise, Shelby Adcock and Amber Adcock; her father-in-law, Eddie Johnson of Mount. Eden; one sister-in-law, Mary Jay (Jeremiah) Chandler of Taylorsville; and one brother-in-law, Leo (Kieara) Marshall of Taylorsville.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville with Sister Debbie Peach and Bro. Nolan Walls officiating. Burial is in Valley Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2025, and 9-10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the funeral home.
The Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
