Obituary: John William ‘Willie’ Reed, 92, New Haven
John William “Willie” Reed, 92, of New Haven, died Sunday, June 1, 2025, at his home. He was a lifelong carpenter, a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and music. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
The family would also like to give a special thank you to Amanda, Michelle, and Rosanna for their love, care, and support.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Reed; his loving wife, Teresa Dewitt Reed; nine siblings; two grandchildren; and a special friend, Sylvia Price.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Reed and Carolyn LaFollette (Roger); four sons, Michael (Bernadette) Reed, Mark (Becky) Reed, Melvin Reed, and Merle (Sherry) Reed; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
The funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at St. Catherine Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2025, and after 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven.
