Obituary: William Thomas ‘Bill’ Head, 93, formerly of Nelson County
William Thomas “Bill” Head, 93, of Louisville, died Monday, June 9, 2025, at his home. He was born May 27, 1932, in Gethsemane to the late Dee and Alice Miller Head. He was a direct descendant of Cuthbert Head who came to the Americas in the late 1770’s from England and purchased land on Pottinger Creek where the Head family lived for 200 years until the home place burned in 1965.

He was a retired supervisor at General Electric. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, and a Past Master of Willis Stewart Lodge #224. He was a member of Kosair Shriners and was a past member of the Kosair Oriental Band, Kosair Golf Club and the Top Hat Gun Club.
He was a resident of Bardstown from 1954-1965 and enjoyed spending his summers at his home in Louisville and his winters in Naples and Estero, Fla.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Alice Lyvers Head; three sisters, Ethel Ann Stanley, Marilyn M. Culver and Charlotte M. Rogers; and four brothers-in-law, Dink Stanley, Dickie Culver, Al Rogers and Donald Bradley.
He is survived by one son, Terry (Peggy) Head; one sister, Elizabeth Vienna Bradley; one grandson, Jacob (Kara) Head; two great-grandsons, Christopher Theodore and Connor Joseph Head; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Deacon Joe Dant officiating. Burial is in Holy Cross Catholic Church Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2025, and 9-11 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
