Obituary: Betty Joyce Tolliver, 76, Bardstown

Betty Joyce Tolliver, 76, of Bardstown, died Saturday, June 14, 2025, at her home. She was born June 30, 1948, in Bardstown to the late Orbery Lee and Elizabeth Estelle Riley Satterly.

She was a 1966 graduate of Bethlehem High School. She was a retired employee of Mitsuba and formerly worked at Hurst Drug Store. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 121 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was an avid bird watcher.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Marlene Norman; and two brothers, Donnie Satterly and Larry Satterly.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen Tolliver; three daughters, Julie Clay and Sarah (Chris) Lockhard, both of Louisville, and Lisa Tolliver of Bardstown; one son, Scott (Jamy) Tolliver of Bardstown; three sisters, Barbara (Rob) Graf, Linda (Jim) Luckett and Patty Royalty, all of Bardstown; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Clay, Claire Tolliver, Caryn Tolliver, AJ Lockhart, Brad (Aylissa) Thomas, Billy (Nina) Thomas, and Ben (Trista) Thomas; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2025, at St. Thomas Catholic Church with the Rev. Ben Brown officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2025, and 8:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2025, at the funeral home with a 7 p.m. Wednesday prayer service.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Nelson County or St. Thomas Catholic Church.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
