Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, 10:30 a.m. – Several Democratic candidates campaigning for statewide office stopped at the historic Talbott Tavern Wednesday afternoon as the party’s “Tested, Trusted, Tough Tour” bus rolled into town.

JERRY ABRAMSON

Gov. Steve Beshear was not present at the tour’s last stop of the day in Bardstown. Former Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson – the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor, spoke to Democrats who came to greet the candidates.

When asked by 1320 WBRT about his ticket’s double-digit lead in the polls, Abramson said being out on the campaign trail was important.

“We’re running like we’re 10 points behind,” Abramson said, adding that neither he nor Beshear are taking anything for granted.

If elected, Abramson said he would take the experience he gained as mayor of Louisville and Jefferson County and use it to help large and small businesses in Kentucky. Abramson also said he would focus on education as well work with cities and counties across the state.

“I’ve had 25 years of experience as a mayor of a city, and mayor of a county. I know the issues the guys and gals have to deal with, and I think I can help them.”

BOB FARMER

Bob Farmer, the Democratic nominee for ag commissioner, was enthusiastic about the bus tour and the outcome of the upcoming election.

“It feels great, we’re all aboard and we all get along, which is a sharp contrast to the other party,” he said. Farmer told WBRT he anticipated a Democratic sweep on Election Day.

Adam Edelen, the Democratic nominee for state auditor and Alison Lundergan Grimes, candidate for secretary of state, also spoke to the group of supporters.

The 12-day tour made more than two dozen stops at communities all across the state. The tour ends today, with stops in Louisville, Nicholasville, Midway and Lexington.
