James Anthony Miles, 65, Raywick

James Anthony Miles, 65, of Raywick, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, at his brother’s home in Loretto. He was born June 25, 1946. in South Bend, Ind. He was a farmer and former employee of of Barton Brands Distillery in Bardstown.  He formerly served in the Army Reserves and was a Catholic by faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Victor and Mary Alma Carrico Miles.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Paula Benningfield Miles; one daughter, Toni Thomas (David) of Raywick; two sons, Gene (Christy) Miles of Bradfordsville, and Paul (Kelly Kieffer) Miles of Louisville; eight sisters, Betty Jean Caldwell, Shirley (Carol) Knopp and Rosie (Edward) Clan, all of Lebanon, Mary B. (James) Cissell of Bardstown, Wilma (Harold) Faulkner of St. Francis, Judy (J.R.) Murphy of Loretto, Vickie (Bobby) Chesser and Lois Dunn, all of Springfield; three brothers, R. V. Miles of Loretto, Jody (Mary Jane) Miles of Lebanon and John Denny (Betty) Miles of Bardstown; and four grandsons, Ben Thomas, Jarred Thomas, Brandon Miles and Matthew Miles.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with interment at Our Lady of the Hills Cemetery, Finley.  Sister Mary Lois Speaks will officiate.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at the funeral home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday.
