Thomas Roy ‘Tommy’ Godbey, 66, Cox’s Creek

Thomas Roy “Tommy” Godbey, 66, of Cox’s Creek, died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at his home.

He was a native of WashingtonCounty, a Navy veteran, and a retired employee of Bell South. He was the son of the late Lee Estill and Sarah Louise Hatchett Godbey, and was preceded in death by his first wife Helen Clark Godbey and a brother Billy Godbey.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Hutchins Godbey; three daughters; Lisa Godbey of Louisville, Jessica (Taylor) Brockman of Bardstown, Lynn (Matt) Mattingly of Lexington; two sons; Mike Godbey of Bardstown and Lee Godbey of Bloomfield; five sisters, Linda (Gerald) Bishop, Susie (Danny) Smith, both of Springfield, Lelya Cawthon, Becky (Teddy) Ballard, both of Bardstown, and Kathy (Joe) Delaney of Cox’s Creek; four brothers; Jerry (Brenda) Godbey, Sam Godbey, Johnny Godbey, Jesse (Diane) Godbey, all of Bardstown; and four grandchildren, Seth Lundy, Conner Brockman, Tanner Brockman and Erica Mattingly.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at Greenwell Houghlin Northside Funeral Home with Bro. Phillip Bishop officiating. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at Greenwell Houghlin Northside Funeral Home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Nelson County.
