James Harold Rapier, 73
Mr. James Harold Rapier, 73, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at the Robley Rex VAMC in Louisville.
He was born Aug. 4, 1938, in New Haven. He graduated from St. Catherine High School in 1956, was a U.S. Navy veteran, a former manager of Coleman Gas Company and retired from Greenwell Brothers Propane Company in Taylorsville. He was a master woodworker and enjoyed gardening. He was a member of the Catholic faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Hugh and Lena Ritchie Rapier; three brothers, his twin, Darold Rapier, Bernard W. Rapier and Chris Rapier.
Survivors include two sons, Steven Patrick Rapier of Bardstown and Anthony Wayne Rapier of Kenosha, Wis.; a daughter, Janet Marie Rapier of Waddy; a brother, Franklin E. Rapier of Liberty, N.C.; a sister, Lois Sommerfield of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his 3 faithful dog companions, Freddie, Tillie and Molly.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home with burial in Bardstown Cemetery with military honors provided by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Deacon Sam Filiatreau will officiate.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Masses for the deceased.
