Firefighters, EMS respond to vehicle reportedly in creek at Helsinki Hill

Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, 9 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department and Nelson County EMS were called to the bottom of Helsinki Hill on New Haven Road for a report of a vehicle off the roadway, down an embankment, in the creek and possibly under water. The Nelson County EMA dive team was placed on standby and the Rolling Fork Fire Department was called for assistance. Firefighters investigated and found the vehicle was empty. They searched the area for possible victims but found none. The vehicle was registered to an owner who lived in the New Haven area. Police called the owners residence and was told by the driver’s mother the driver was OK. The driver’s mother refused to let the officer talk directly to the driver.
