Charles Edward McDonald, 77, Bardstown

CHARLES EDWARD MCDONALD

Charles Edward McDonald, 77, of Bardstown died Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at Flaget Memorial Hospital.  He was born Dec. 16, 1933, in Fredericktown. He was a US Army veteran and graduated from Mercer University College of Pharmacy.  He was a retired pharmacist from Walgreens Drug Store in Lexington and was a member of St. Joseph Parish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Frederick and Mary Emma Gootee McDonald; two brothers, Joseph William “Bud” McDonald and James Frederick McDonald; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth McDonald.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Cecil McDonald; one son, James E. McDonald of Cox’s Creek; two daughters, Charlene Davis of Bardstown and Alicia Weatherbee of Madison, Wis.; one brother, Robert Leon McDonald of Fredericktown; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home with a prayer service that evening.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation.
