Tuesday, Nov. 8, 20111 — Goal setting is the key to accomplishing our visions. Many of us have heard the mantra of writing our goals; write them down, look at them daily, and chart our progress. I do strongly condone the use of these procedures, especially in business. However this approach misses out on the passion that must be present to complete our vision.

Passion defined is: as any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling. This strong feeling of emotion is the fuel that drives us to achieve. A strong vision statement for your company provides that fuel. It allows employees and us, as the owner, to reach for something beyond ourselves. It connects us all and focuses our energies. Without this vision statement, goal setting is futile.

People say they stop setting goals because they fail to achieve them. I say that people fail to achieve their goals because they have no clear idea about where they want their goals to get them, they lack consistency, they lack a vision. In order for us to impact this world, we need to focus on that vision. We need to have all our goals and actions compliment what we are achieving.

Our lives and businesses need to reflect our vision. Aligning our personal and business life allows us to achieve our visions and accomplish our goals. When our personal and business lives are not aligned we work against ourselves. Imagine the accomplishments to achieve when your whole life is focused on completing that one vision.

A vision without goals does not become reality. Goals without vision do not motivate us. A vision with goals to support its completion betters our communities and our lives. What is your vision, and how are you going to accomplish it?
