Thomas Richard Geohegan, 87, Bardstown

Thomas Richard Geohegan, 87, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011 at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. He was a native of Shelby County, a reitred employee of General Motors, an Air Force veteran, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus No. 1290 where he was a former Grand Knight. He also served on the church bereavement committee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Claude and Mallie Taylor Geoghegan; one son, Larry Geoghegan; three sisters, Mary Livers, Elizabeth Abell, and Sara Millett; and two brothers, John Allen Geoghegan and Alvis Geoghegan.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie Howard Geoghegan; three sons, Richard (Diane) Geoghegan of Prospect, Robert (Trish) Geoghegan of Columbus Ohio, and John Geoghegan of Lexington; one sister, Jean Keller of Shaker Heights Ohio; two brothers; Malcolm (Lucy) Geoghegan of Bardstown, and William C. Geoghegan of Elizabethtown; and five grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with the Rev. Bill Hammer as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to any parish school or the bereavement committee at St. Joseph Church.

Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
