Joseph Everett “Brother Bivens” Bivens, 79, Bardstown
Joseph Everett “Brother Bivens” Bivens, 79, of Bardstown, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at Life Care Center of Bardstown.
He was a native of Nelson County, a retired employee of Jim Beam Distillery with 39 years of service, an Air Force veteran, a member of Abraham Lincoln American Legion Post 167, and a member of St. Monica Catholic Church. He was the son of the late Augustine and Bertha Ann Livers Bivens. He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Mae Greathouse Bivens; one daughter, Tisha Goldring of Cincinnati; three sons, Gus Goldring and Jerry Goldring, both of Bardstown, and David Litsey of Lebanon; two sisters, Georgia Girton of Bardstown and Margaret Reed of Louisville; several grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial is 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at St. Monica Catholic Church with the Rev. Jeff Hopper officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011 at the Greenwell Houghlin Northside Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held 7 p.m. Sunday followed by an Abraham Lincoln American Legion Post 167 memorial service.
