Nelson Circuit Court Indictments — Nov. 16, 2011

Editor’s Note: The indictment of a person by a grand jury or otherwise is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, 9 p.m. – The following people were indicted by a Nelson County grand jury on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011. They are set for arraignment on Dec. 8, 2011, unless otherwise indicated.

11-CR-296. Christopher T. Byrd, 21, Louisville, Ky., theft by unlawful taking-auto and complicity to same; theft by unlawful taking and complicity to same; tampering with physical evidence and complicity to same; criminal mischief, third-degree and complicity to same.

According to the indictment, on Oct. 29, 2011, Byrd – acting alone or in concert with Michael Pugh — allegedly took a 2007 Toyota Tacoma belonging to Franklin Family Chevrolet. Byrd – either acting alone or in concert with Michael Pugh – also allegedly took eight rims and tires off vehicles in the Franklin Family Chevrolet lot and hid them. Bail was set at $20,000 cash only, plus conditions.

11-CR-298. Michael Casey Pugh, 26, Louisville, theft by unlawful taking-auto and complicity to same; theft by unlawful taking and complicity to same; tampering with physical evidence and complicity to same; criminal mischief, third-degree and complicity to same; persistent felony offender, second degree.

According to the indictment, on Oct. 29, 2011, Pugh – acting alone or in concert with Christopher Byrd — allegedly took a 2007 Toyota Tacoma belonging to Franklin Family Chevrolet. Pugh – acting alone or in concert with Christopher T. Byrd — allegedly took eight rims and tires off vehicles in the Franklin Family Chevrolet lot and hid them. The indictment cites Pugh’s previous felony conviction as the basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $20,000 cash only plus conditions.

11-CR-299. Scotty Ray Stevens. 40, address unknown, failure to comply with Sex Offender Registry; persistent felony offender, first-degree.

According to the indictment, on Nov. 8, 2011, Stevens allegedly failed to complete the address verification form as required. The indictment cites Stevens’ previous felony convictions as the basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $50,000 cash only plus conditions.

11-CR-300. Michael Charles Taylor, 32, Bardstown, possession of a forged instrument, second-degree (five counts); fraudulent use of a credit or debit card; theft by deception, $500 or more; theft by deception under $500; persistent felony offender, second-degree.

According to the indictment, on Sept. 7, 2011, Taylor allegedly passed forged checks belonging to someone else for  $20 to Thompsons Food Mart; $422.94 to Tractor Supply Co.; $1,324.98 to Tractor Supply Co.; $484.39 to Tractor Supply Co.; and $500 to Walmart. Between Sept. 3, 2011 and Sept. 8, 2011, Taylor allegedly used a credit card belonging to someone else to obtain money in the amount of more than $500 but less than $10,000 and passed several checks totaling less than $500 that he knew would not be honored. The indictment cites Taylor’s previous felony conviction as the basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $25,000 cash only, plus conditions.

11-CR-301. Erin Nicole Barnes, 29, Bardstown, promoting contraband, first-degree.

According to the indictment, on Oct. 7, 2011, Barnes allegedly brought a lighter into the Nelson County Jail. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

11-CR-302. Crystal Marie Grigsby, 29, address unknown, theft by unlawful taking and complicity to the same; wanton endangerment, first-degree (six counts); fleeing and evading police, first-degree (motor vehicle).

According to the indictment, on Oct. 13, 2011, Grigsby – either acting alone or in concert with Michael R. Barnes and Perry Bell — allegedly took three televisions belonging to Walmart having a value of $500 or more but less than $10,000. The indictment further alleges Barnes operated a motor vehicle in a reckless manner and traveled at a high rate of speed while fleeing and evading police, endangering passengers Michael Barnes and Perry Bell, as well as police pursuing her. Bail was set at $20,000 cash only, plus conditions.

11-CR-303. Samuel Connor Mays, 18, Bloomfield, burglary, first-degree; burglary, third-degree; burglary, third-degree (attempted); criminal mischief, third-degree (three counts).

According to the indictment, on Oct. 31, 2011, Mays allegedly broke into Houghlin Funeral Home and the office of Drs. Hendren and Lockett, and attempted to enter unlawfully the Bloomfield House of God, and allegedly damaging property belonging to all both businesses and the church. Bail was set at $20,000 cash only, plus conditions.

11-CR-304. Perry Anthony Le Bell, 24, Lebanon, theft by unlawful taking and complicity to same; promoting contraband, first-degree; terroristic threatening, third-degree; persistent felony offender, first-degree.

According to the indictment, on Oct. 13, 2011, Bell – either acting along or in concert with Crystal M. Grigsby and Michael R. Barnes — allegedly took three televisions belonging to Walmart having a value of $500 or more but less than $10,000. The indictment further alleges Bell threatened a deputy sheriff, and also brought a lighter into the Nelson County Jail.  The indictment cites Bell’s prior felony convictions as the basis for the persistent felony conviction charge. Bail was set at $100,000 cash only, plus conditions.

11-CR-305. Michelle Lynn Hardin, 43, Mt. Washington, theft by unlawful taking; theft by unlawful taking under $500; criminal trespass, third-degree.

According to the indictment, on Oct. 6, 2011, Hardin allegedly took scrap metal belonging to Iron Works Welding having a value of more than $500 but less than $10,000. It further alleges she took scrap metal belonging to S & R Supply Co. having a value of less than $500. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

11-CR-306. Michael Roy Aaron Barnes, 19, Shelbyville, theft by unlawful taking and complicity to same.

According to the indictment, on Oct. 13, 2011, Barnes – acting alone or in concert with Crystal M. Grigsby and Perry A. Bell – allegedly took three televisions belonging to Walmart. Bail was set at $20,000 cash only, plus conditions.

11-CR-307. Justin David Milliman, 18, Loretto, burglary, second-degree; theft by unlawful taking.

According to the indictment, on Oct. 27, 2011, Milliman entered someone’s residence and took a sound system and jewelry with a value of $500 or more but less than $10,000. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

11-CR-308. Jacob Bartley, 22, Bardstown, burglary, second-degree (two counts).

According to the indictment, on Sept. 26, 2011, Bartley allegedly entered two residences with the intent to commit a crime. Bail was set at $20,000 cash only, plus conditions.

11-CR-309. William Lance Foster, 25, Springfield, burglary, third-degree; criminal mischief, second-degree.

According to the indictment, on Nov. 4, 2011, Foster allegedly entered the garage of a residence unlawfully and caused damage of $500 or more. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.
