Monday, Nov. 22, 2011, 11:30 p.m. – The old Bardstown sewing factory building – more recently home to Communicare’s Bardstown Industries operation – will soon be just a memory.
City Engineer Jessica Filiatreau told the Bardstown City Council Tuesday night that Rame Contracting LLC, of Springfield, is planning to begin demolition of the building on Monday, Nov. 28th.
Rame Contracting submitted the low and winning bid of $67,300. The council approved the bid at its meeting earlier this month.
The plan is to completely remove the building and its foundation.
CHANNEL 6 COMING SOON. The Lebanon-based Channel 6 will be adding equipment soon to improve its signal enough to allow it to be added to the Bardstown Cable TV system.
Larry Hamilton, the city’s public works director, told the council that the city agreed to lease space at the city water tower at Briarcliff Avenue on Springfield Road near Burg Hill for Channel 6 to construct an antenna tower which will be used to relay their programming into Bardstown.
“Channel 6 has enough local programming that they’re going to have must-carry status,” Hamilton said. “We’re going to lease that space to them for a nominal fee.”
The FCC has not formally ruled Channel 6 as a must-carry channel for the Bardstown Cable TV system, “but its going that way,” he said.

— Heard that the city police department has hired an evidence technician who can do “the real CSI stuff,” Chief Rick McCubbin told the council. McCubbin also explained the Explorer’s program and the group’s participation in a mock shooting last Saturday at Nelson County High School.
The next regular council meeting is 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13. The council has a working session set for 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6.
