Lily Josephine Mudd, 72, Bloomfield

Lily Josephine Mudd, 72, of Bloomfield, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at her sister’s residence in Loretto.

She was the former Josephine Haydon, a native of Washington County, a retired employee of the Nelson County Schools with 39 years of service. She taught at Cox’s Creek Elementary School for 33 years. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and the Taylorsville order of the Eastern Star Chapter 366 where she had served as secretary and treasurer.

She was the daughter of the late Russell T & Eva Opal Tatum Haydon. She was preceded in death by one sister, Jane Hill and one brother, Bobby Haydon.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Mudd; four sons, David Allen (Roberta Meyer) Young of Shepherdsville, Ronnie (Mary Nan) Mudd of Louisville, Rickey (Sandy) Mudd  Portageville Mo., and Tim (Tracy) Cheek of Bloomfield; six sisters, Betty Hagan and Texie Oldham of Holy Cross, Mary (T.J.) Johnson of Columbus Ohio, Kay Hartley of Shepherdsville, Linda (Charlie) Johnson of Clarksville Ind, and Nancy (Roy) Walker of Campbellsville; one brother, Billy Haydon of Winchester; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at the New Hope Baptist Church with Brother Cameron Jungles officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011 at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2011 at New Hope Baptist Church. The Taylorsville order of Eastern Star will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
