Nelson Circuit Court indictments — Jan. 5, 2011

Editor’s Note: The indictment of a person by a grand jury or otherwise is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The following people were indicted by a Nelson County grand jury on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011.  They are set for arraignment in Nelson Circuit Court Jan. 20, 2011.

Rosie Powers, 59, Bardstown, theft by deception, $10,000 or more and complicity to same. According to the indictment, sometime between Oct. 1, and Dec. 9, 2010, Powers, either acting alone or in concert with others, obtained property or services with the intent to deprive thereof, namely by creating or reinforcing a false impression as to law, value, intentions or other state of mind by transferring funds through money grams and Western Union transfers having the value of $10,000 or more to an individual in Nigeria. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only plus conditions.

Justin M. Watkins, 26, Bloomfield, theft by unlawful taking over $10,000. According to the indictment, between Aug. 25 and Oct. 29, 2010, Watkins allegedly took more than $17,000 in cash from the Palms Sports Bar & Grill. Bail was set at $5,000 unsecured, plus conditions.

James L. Clan, 33, Bardstown, operating a motor vehicle while license suspended for DUI, third or greater; leaving the scene of an accident; second-degree persistent felony offender. Bail was set at $9,500 cash plus conditions.

Shannon R. Wise, 36, Cox’s Creek, failure to comply with sex offender registry; second-degree persistent felony offender. According to the indictment, on or about Aug. 19, 2010, Wise failed to complete the address verification form as required by the sex offender registry. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

David A. McIntosh, 27, Irvine, first-degree wanton endangerment-police officer; first-degree wanton endangerment; first-degree fleeing and evading police (motor vehicle); operating a motor vehicle while license suspended for DUI, second offense; operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, third offense; failure to illuminate head lamps; no/expired Kentucky registration receipt. The charges against McIntosh stem from a Nov. 12 incident that led to two-county police chase that began in Nelson County and ended in the Marion County community of Raywick. Bail was set at $25,000 cash only plus conditions.

Jamie Lynn Akins, 42, Louisville, obtaining controlled substance by fraud, second or greater offense; first-degree persistent felony offender. According to the indictment, between June 7 and Sept. 11, 2010, Akins misrepresented or withheld information from several medical practitioners in Nelson County to obtain prescriptions for hydrocodone. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only plus conditions.

Kimberly S. Blandford, 39, Elizabethtown, obtaining a controlled substance by fraud. According to the indictment, between Oct. 25 and Nov. 12, 2010, Blandford allegedly obtained Hydrocodone and Tramadol by knowing misrepresenting to, or withholding information from several practitioners in Nelson County. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only plus conditions.

Gary T. Downs, 39, Bardstown, flagrant non-support; second-degree persistent felony offender. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only plus conditions.

Freddie E. Early Jr., 31, Nicholasville, flagrant non-support. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only plus conditions.

Ronald Ray Ritchie, 34, Bardstown, amend indictment 10-CR-381 to add charge of second-degree persistent felony offender. Bail was set as same as primary charges in earlier indictment.

Calvin C. Cambron, 40, Bardstown, flagrant non-support. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only plus conditions.
