Herbert Hoover Carney, 82, Bardstown
Herbert Hoover Carney, 82, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at Flaget Memorial Hospital.
He was born December 29, 1928 in Washington County. He was an auctioneer in tobacco and real estate most of his life, an ordained deacon in Bloomfield Baptist Church for many years, a member of Bloomfield Masonic Lodge # 57, a member of Parkway Baptist Church, Parkway Senior Adult Group, and Harmony Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his two children, Herbert Terrence Carney, and Sherri Carney Hayden; his parents, Morris and Lyda Carney; six brothers, Morris Carney Jr., J.B. Carney, Ira Bayne Carney, Ben Carney, Lovell Carney, and Harold “Buddy” Carney; and three sisters, Ruth Carney Cheatham, Joyce Carney Mathis, and Lois Jean Carney Moyer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lois Jones Carney of Bardstown; two daughters, Debbi Carney Clark of Nashville and Wendi Carney (Eric) Newsome of Bardstown; four grandchildren, Alicia Hayden (Matt) Brown, Amanda Newsome, Evan Carney Newsome, and An-Michelle Clark; two great-grandchildren, Sally Brown and Jack Hayden Brown; and a son-in-law, Kenny Hayden.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at Barlow Funeral Home. The Rev. Leland Parks, Dr. James Carroll and the Rev. Rodney Lynch will officiate.
Visitation is 12-5 p.m. Sunday and 9-11 a.m. Monday at Barlow Funeral Home.
