Bardstown man arrested for burglary of next door neighbor’s residence

Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, 5:45 p.m. — A Bardstown man was arrested Wednesday on burglary charges stemming from an break-in that took place Dec. 1, 2011 on Ashberry Drive.
John Mattew Jackson, 18, was arrested by Bardstown Police and charged with first-degree burglary and tampering with physical evidence. The arrest came after an investigation determined the burglar entered the Ashberry Drive through the attic crawl space. Jackson lived in the adjacent apartment. Two rifles, two televisions and a gun safe were taken during the burglary. The gun safe and rifles were recovered Wednesday in a wooded area off Kings Road in Cox’s Creek. One of the televisions was recovered on Dec. 9th from a home in the 200 block of North Aspen in Bardstown.
Police say the investigation is continuing and additional arrests are likely. Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact city police at (502) 348-6811.
