Bardstown firefighters respond to reported grease fire at Five Star

Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, 2:58 a.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department responded to the Five Star Food Mart, 1855 New Haven Road, for a fire in a fryer at the business. Firefighters said the fire happened while employees were preparing to change out the oil. Firefighters extinguished the fire and inspected the kitchen area to determine if the fire extended into the walls, ceiling or kitchen exhaust system. Firefighters also used their equipment to remove smoke from the business. They were dispatched about 2 a.m. and were on scene for just under one hour.
