Martha Helen King, 89, Bardstown
Martha Helen King, 89, of Bardstown, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 2, 1922, in Bardstown, retired in 1992 as a cafeteria worker for Foster Heights Elementary for over 31 years and was known for her baking. She had a unique talent for chair caning. She was a member of Bardstown Baptist Church for 63 years and taught Sunday School Class for 30 years, Women’s Mission Union, and Fidelis Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wesley King; granddaughter, Jaime Marie Masterson; son-in-law, James D. “Jimbo” Masterson; parents, William Lee Hardin and Callie Case Hardin; five brothers, Bill Hardin, Joe Hardin, R.C. Hardin, Leonard Hardin, and John Thomas Hardin; and four sisters, Margaret Case, Gladys Clemens, Dorothy Boone, and Mary Lena Davis.
She is survived by four daughters, Marie Masterson, Phyllis (Eddie) Cecil, Linda King, all of Bardstown, and Judy (Denny) Harvey of Brooks; four grandsons, Matthew (Angela) Cecil, Tommy Cecil, Wes (Jena) Masterson, and Trey Harvey; three great-granddaughters, Kaitlin Cecil, Tera Cecil, and Lindsey Cecil; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at Bardstown Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Bardstown Cemetery. The Revs. Dylan Mays and Arthur Hardin will officiate.
Visitation is 11 a.m.- 8 p.m. Monday and 9 – 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at Barlow Funeral Home.
