One person seriously injured after head-on collision on US31E North

Friday, Dec. 23, 4:55 p.m. — One man was seriously injured Friday afternoon in a head-on collision on US31E North at Country Squire Lane. Nelson County EMS and the sheriff’s deputies responded to the reported accident about 4 p.m. EMS transported a man in his 50s with serious head injuries to Flaget Memorial Hospital where they met with a medical evacuation helicopter. The man was flown from Flaget to University Hospital in Louisville for treatment. The Bardstown Fire Department responded to extinguish a small fire reported in one of the crashed vehicles. First responders said the injured man was not wearing a seat belt. Others involved in the crash refused treatment by EMS. Deputies also handled a second accident while at the location of the head-on collision. No one was injured in the second collision.
