Snow blankets Nelson County; more expected throughout the day

Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, 8:15 a.m. — With an inch of wet snow already on the ground and more in the forecast, Nelson County is bracing for what could be up to 3 inches of total snow accumulation (click on the map at right for a larger view of anticipated snow totals).

Nelson County remains under a Winter Weather Advisory until 7 p.m. tonight. Snow is falling at this time and will continue as light snow throughout the morning, tapering off to snow showers through the afternoon.

TODAY. The high for today will be near 32. Southwest wind between 6 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.

TONIGHT. A 40 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around 20. Wind chill values as low as 10. West wind between 10 and 13 mph.

WEDNESDAY. Scattered snow showers, mainly before 1pm. Cloudy and cold, with a high near 24. Wind chill values as low as 7. West wind between 11 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
