Mae Alice Vandiver Vittitow, 93, Boston

Mae Alice Vandiver Vittitow, 93, of Boston, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at the home of her niece in Bardstown.

She was a label clerk for Jim Beam Distillery for more than 32 years before retiring to care for her mother. She was a lifelong member of the Boston Christian Church and was faithful to her church. She served as hospitality host at her church for many years. She was a member of the Boston Order of the Easter Star for more than 50 years. She was born Nov. 30, 1918 in Boston, and was the daughter of the late Willie Frank and Clara Mae Barnes Vandiver.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, John K. Vandiver, Henry James Vandiver, Wilbert A. Vandiver, and Eugene Ray “Gene” Vandiver; and one sister, Margie Elizabeth Vandiver Dugan.

Survivors include her niece, Ruth (Steve) Hatler of Bardstown; one sister-in-law, Lois Vandiver of Shepherdsville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at the Boston Christian Church with Terry Troutman officiating. Burial is in the Little Brick Cemetery in Boston.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at the Boston Chapel of the William R. Rust Funeral Home, 12783 Boston Road in Boston with an OES service Friday evening. Visitation continues 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at the Boston Christian Church, 195 Petersburg Road in Boston.

Expressions of sympathy make take the form of donations to Hospice of Nelson County or the Boston Christian Church.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home Boston Chapel, 12783 Boston Road, is in charge of arrangements.
