Carolyn Hood, 71, Bloomfield

Carolyn Hood, 71, of Bloomfield, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at her home. She was the former Carolyn Murphy, a native of Nelson County and a retired employee of General Electric with 31 years of service. She was a member of the Bloomfield Baptist Church where she served on the bereavement committee. She was the daughter of the late Roy and Essie Chesser Murphy.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Charles W. “Woodie” Hood; one daughter, Susan (Tony) Ockerman; one sister, Betty (Jim) Dowden of Middletown; and one granddaughter, Jeni Sue Ockerman of Chaplin.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Earl Pake and Bro. Richard Carwile officiating. Burial is in Highview Cemetery in Chaplin.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec 31, 2011 at Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Nelson County or the building fund of Bloomfield Baptist Church.
