Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, 4:50 p.m. — The National Weather Service has extended the Winter Weather Advisory though 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. County roadways that were cleared today may become slick and hazardous overnight due to blowing snow and additional accumulation.
Snow showers will continue overnight, bringing up to 2 inches of additional snow to Nelson County (click the map at right to enlarge). Gusty winds will continue this afternoon and overnight, creating blowing and drifting snow conditions. Windblown snow is already creating some hazardous spots on county roadways by spreading snow back onto cleared roadways. Several sections of US31E between Bardstown and High Grove have one or both lanes covered with blown snow.
