Charles H. ‘Charlie’ Hall, 85, Bardstown
Charles H. “Charlie” Hall, 85, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 23, 1926, in Fairfield. He was a 1944 graduate of St. Joe Prep, a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Bardstown Bassmasters and St. Joseph Parish. He was a former employee of Wilson Brothers for 13 years, was a former operator of Hall’s Shell Service Station, and was the former owner of Hall’s Lawn and Garden Equipment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Leslie and Helen Lilly Hall; his stepmother, Vivian Dugan Hall; and two sisters, Nancy Perkins and Margaret Mudd.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Josephine Graham Hall; two sons, Patrick (Mary) Hall and Lee Hall, both of Bardstown; two daughters, Beth (Larry) Mattingly of Louisville and Charlotte (Paul) Pendergrass of Cox’s Creek; four brothers, Bob Hall of Marion, John F. Hall of Louisville, Carroll Hall of Lebanon Junction and Tony Miller of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Curtis Mattingly and Lauren Mattingly; two great-grandchildren, Justin Mattingly and Ashlynn Dickey; five step-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield. The Rev. Joseph Batcheldor will celebrate. The Marion County Veterans Honor Guard will perform full military rites at the cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, and 8:30-11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home. A prayer service is 6 p.m. Monday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Nelson County or the American Cancer Society.
