EMS, police, firefighters called to multi-vehicle accident on parkway
Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, 8:20 p.m. — What was believed to be a large multi-vehicle injury near the 35 mile marker and the Washington-Nelson County line turned out to be a series of smaller, non-injury accidents due to hazardous road conditions.
Nelson County Dispatch received a call at 7:53 p.m. Monday to report a multi-vehicle injury accident possibly involving a tractor-trailer rig. Nelson County EMS, the Northeast Nelson Fire Department and Nelson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report, and Washington County EMS and Willisburg Rescue was requested for mutual aid. After first-responders arrived, they determined there were no injuries and no tractor-trailer involved.
Road conditions have been extremely hazardous in the Bloomfield area, with deputies reporting a half-inch of snowfall within a 15-minute period while officers were out with an earlier accident near the parkway’s 32 mile marker. EMS reported to dispatch that the roads are “solid white” near Bloomfield and needed treatment. State and county road crews were responding to get the roads in the area treated.
