Firefighters respond to natural gas leak near Chili’s Restaurant
Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, 7:15 p.m. – The Bardstown Fire Department responded about 5:30 Sunday morning to a report of a strong natural gas smell in the area near Lowe’s at the corner of KY 245 and US 150. Bardstown Police reported that what they believed was a natural gas pipe leaking at the rear of Chili’s Restaurant. Firefighters confirmed the leak was natural gas from the rear of the building. LG&E crews responded and they determined the leak was underground near the rear of Chili’s. Utility crews shut the gas off to stop the leak and firefighters set up their equipment to ventilate fumes from the building. Crews were on scene until about 8 Sunday morning.
