Weather service: Snowy blast en route for Nelson County tomorrow evening
Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, 6 p.m. — A Winter Weather Advisory for snow has been issued for nearly all of Kentucky beginning 1 p.m. Thursday through 9 a.m. Friday.
The National Weather Service office in Louisville predicts a cold front will pass through the region Thursday afternoon with rain changing over to snow showeres. Scattered moderate to heavy snow showers will produce up to a half-inch of widespread snow. Areas with heavy snow could see up to 2 inches of snow.
The snow showers will be combined with gusty winds of 30 to 40 mph, creating white-out conditions at times. As temperatures fall Thursday night, wet roads will likely freeze, creating hazardous driving conditions Friday morning.
A winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibility.
