Mary Gondola Elmore Miles, 80, Bardstown
Mary Gondola Elmore Miles, 80, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at Flaget Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 30, 1931, in Holy Cross. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Joseph Werner Miles; a twin son, Joseph Darrell Miles; her parents, Frank and Crozier Elmore; two brothers, Donald Elmore and Lawrence Elmore; a sister, Haddie Elmore; and four half-brothers, Ernest Jackson, Hal Jackson, Raffo Jackson and J.E. Jackson.
She is survived by four daughters, Donna Fay (David) Thompson of Bardstown, Jeanette (John) Megyese of Cox’s Creek, Cathy (Leo) Medley of Taylorsville, and Debbie Miles of Indianapolis; five sons, Steve Miles, Larry (Rusha) Miles, Eddie (Denise) Miles all of Bardstown, Fred Miles of Georgetown, and Harold (Libby) Miles of Cox’s Creek; a sister, Theresa (Sam) Raley of Lebanon Junction; a brother, Estel (Marilyn) Elmore of Louisville; two half-sisters, Louise Hicks and Gerldine Fogle of Holy Cross; and 11 grandchildren.
A funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2012 at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with the Rev. Bill Hammer officiating. Burial is in the St. JosephCemetery.
Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Sunday at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service will be 6 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial contributions may go to Hospice of Nelson County, The American Cancer Society, or The American Lung Association.
