Margaret Delores Abell West, 91, Loretto

Margaret Delores Abell West, 91, of Loretto, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 14, 1920, in Marion County. She was a former employee of Jane and Linda Sportswear and an avid genealogist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Archie West; her parents, Thomas Ernest and Nettie Mae Mattingly Abell; her son, James Thomas “Jimmie” West; her daughters, Theresa Jane Coyle and infant Mary Delores West; three brothers, William, James and Louis Abell; and three sisters, Pauline Greenwell, Catherine Cox and Cecilia Wright.

Survivors include three daughters, Ruth Ann Perkins and Barbara Thomason, both of Louisville, and Linda (Donald) Lee of Raywick; one son, Charles West of Lebanon; one brother, Joe (Coleen) Abell of Lexington; three sisters, Dorothy Mattingly and Janette Bradshaw, both of Louisville and Lois Southall of Lebanon; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Raywick. Burial is in the church cemetery.  The Rev. James W. Graf will be the celebrant.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 7 p.m. officiated by Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

Pallbearers are Greg West, Terry Coyle, Gilbert Perkins, Chris Perkins, Kenny West and Jeff Helms.
