Bardstown man, woman arrested for DUI, rolling domestic assault
Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, 3 p.m. — Two people were arrested Tuesday night after police investigated an anonymous tip of a possible domestic violence incident in a moving vehicle.
Bardstown Police Officer Nathan Phillips located and stopped the vehicle, a gray Ford Escape, driven by Hazel S. Girdley, 57, near the intersection of North Third Street and Withrow Court. Girdley was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Police noted Girdley had a swollen and black eye, and she told police her passenger, Billy Smith 57, assaulted her resulting in the injuries.
Smith was arrested for fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), resisting arrest, possession of an open alcohol beverage container in a vehicle, and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
