Jospeh Andrew ‘J.A.’ Boone, Jr., 77, New Haven

Joseph Andrew “J.A.” Boone Jr., 77, of New Haven, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at his residence.

He was a lifelong resident ofNew Haven. He was born to the late Joseph Andrew and Mary Annie Hagan Boone. He was a Catholic by faith, and a member of the St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven. He was a retired self-employed contractor with Buzick Construction Co. in Bardstown and a U.S. Army veteran.

He also preceded in death by a brother, Jasper Boone; and a sister, Rose Ann Mattingly.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Joyce Marie Thompson Boone; three sons, Kevin Boone of Bradfordsville, Timmy Boone and Neal Boone, both of New Haven; five daughters, Dianne Chesser, Lesia Hillard and Elaine Burba, all of Bardstown; Donna Salsman of Buffalo, and Janice Shipp of Cambellsville; two brothers, Bernard Boone of New Haven, and Lawrence Boone of Louisville; two sisters, Helen Boone of Paoli, Ind., and Pauline Gootee of Nazareth; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at St. Catharine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven with the Rev. Troy Overton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, with a prayer service at 5 p.m. by Deacon Eddie Hutchins, and 8-9:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven.

Memorial contributions may go to Hospice of Nelson County.
