Police: Injured teen remains in critical condition at Kosair Children’s Hospital

Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, 3:44 p.m. — The 14-year-old girl who was injured Sunday afternoon when she was struck by a truck on North Third Street in front of Wendy’s remains in intensive care at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville.

In a press release from Bardstown Police issued about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, the teenager’s mother said the girl was taken back to surgery Monday evening to have a portion of her skull removed to relieve the pressure from swelling. The portion will be later replaced, the teen’s mother told police.

The girl underwent surgery after the accident and has been in a medically-induced coma since. Her name has not been released by police, but she is a freshman at Nelson County High School.
