Agnes Marie Wheatley Hutchins, 85, Loretto
Agnes Marie Wheatley Hutchins, 85, of Loretto, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at her home with family by her side.
She was born June 28, 1926, in Nelson County. She was the daughter of the late John Lewis and Emma Lee Wheatley. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
After leaving Cowdens sewing factory, she worked many years with her dear friend Imelda Hagan sewing for Loretto Crafts, supplying to the Kentucky State Parks. The past 18 years she donated many hours of her time managing the Loretto Food Bank and helping needy families. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her son, John Alvin Hutchins; her grandsons, Ricky and Joe David Humphrey; a brother, W.A. Wheatley; and a son-in-law, Dean Bruner.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Joseph Arch Hutchins Sr.; two sons, Joseph Arch “Junie” (Robin) Hutchins Jr. and Doug “Purple” (Lisa) Hutchins of Loretto; nine daughters, Linda Bruner, Karan (Mike) Luckett, Denise Hayden and Terri Farmer all of Loretto, Kathy (Tony) Pivot of Boston, Vicki (Bill) Newton of St Francis, Deanna (Tom) Thornton of Lebanon, Carol (Jimmy) Payton of Turner Station, and Brenda Sue (Dale) Daugherty of Raywick; a daughter-in-law Brenda (Albert) Johnson of Lebanon; two sisters, Irene Kays of Botland and Volinda “Bunch” Mattingly of New Hope; 35 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis with burial in the Holy Cross Cemetery. The Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will be the celebrant.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with prayers at 5 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hosparus of Central Kentucky.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
