Founder of Louisville Tea Party files for state representative

Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, 10:45 a.m. — The woman who was founder of the Louisville Tea Party organization in 2009 has filed to run for a seat in the Kentucky House of Representatives.

Wendy Caswell, 27, of Louisville filed Friday morning to run as a Democrat for state representative in Kentucky’s 42nd District, a district that stretches from the West End and the Ohio River through areas of downtown south of Broadway all the way out to the Middletown area along Shelbyville Road.

Caswell will face incumbent Democrat Reginald Meeks in the May primary. According to the Secretary of State’s website, no Republicans have filed to enter the race.

Caswell is currently president of the Louisville Tea Party. She was a recent speaker in Bardstown at an organizational meeting of the Nelson County Tea Party.

The filing deadline for legislative races is 4 p.m. today.
