William Paul Holbert, 80, Lyons Station

William Paul Holbert, 80, of Lyons Station, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at his residence.

He was a Baptist by faith and a member of Rolling Fork Baptist Church. He retired from American Air Filter in Louisville, was an United States Army veteran and an avid gardener.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Kennedy Holbert; his parents, Joseph Elmer and Rhoda Redmon Holbert; and two grandchildren, Sara Lynn Holbert and Justin Ross Holbert.

Survivors include three sons, William Earl “Willie” (Wanda) Holbert of Hodgenville, Joseph Ralph (Cyndi) Holbert of Lyons Station, and James Edward “Jimmy” (Vickie) Holbert of New Haven; one sister, Mary Ann Shafer of Georgetown; two brothers, Joe Elmer Holbert of Hodgenville and Marvin Holbert of Louisville; two grandchildren, Andy Holbert and Tara (Greg) Boone; and two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Cara Bella Boone.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at the Rolling Fork Baptist Church with Bro. Bruce Nichols officiating. Burial is in the River View Cemetery in New Haven.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, and 8-10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven.
