Edward M. “Ed” Carty, 66, of Bardstown

Edward M. “Ed” Carty, 66, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at his home.

He was a native ofGreenvilleand taught two years there. He retired after 28 years of teaching with the Nelson County Schools. He was a retired member of the N.E.A., the Nelson County Retired Teachers Association, a Kentucky Colonel and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a lifelong Democrat who was active in his party. He was host of a political talk show on 1320 WBRT for several years. He was a frequent caller and a favorite guest on WBRT’s “Brooks & Company” political talk show.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward M.Sr. & Learlean Oglesby Carty.

He is survived by his son, Zachary (Sonja) Thompson Carty of Bardstown; and his daughter, Spring Marie Carty of Baltimore,Md.

A Graveside service is 11:30 CST Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at MountCarmelCemeteryinWhite Plains,Ky.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home.
