Edwin Ernest Johnson, 94, Bardstown

Edwin Ernest Johnson, 94, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Life Care Center.  He was born Sept. 24, 1917, in Springfield. He was retired from the US Navy having served in World War II and the Korean War.  He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors’ Organization and the VFW Post 5710 of Shepherdsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Alfred and Annie Wathen Johnston; three brothers, Carl Johnston, Ivo Johnston and Patrick Johnson; and a sister, Marie Wilson.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home with Deacon Sam Filiatreau officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors provided by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
