Bernice Kurtz Moore, 89, of Bardstown

Bernice Kurtz Moore, 89, of Bardstown, died at her home Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012. She was a devout Catholic, a loving mother, grandmother, great- and great-great-grandmother. She was a homemaker who loved spending time with her large family and enjoyed working in her yard of many roses.  She was born in Buechel and she spent most of her life in Bardstown as a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, C.P. “Connie” Moore, Jr.; two sons, Connie Moore, III and Merrill Moore; and two daughters, Suzanne Moore Mattingly and Necie Moore O’Daniel.

Survivors include three sons, Joe Pat Moore and his wife, Kathy, of Edgewood, Mike Moore and his wife, Charlotte, of Surf City, N.C., and Tom Moore and his wife, Claudia, of Irving, Texas; two daughters-in-law, Mary Ellen Moore and Mary Lynn Moore, both of Bardstown; two sons-in-law, Freddy Mattingly and Tony O’Daniel, both of Bardstown; 18 grandchildren, Charles, Michael, and John Moore, Ellen Moore Bauer, Julie Mattingly Higdon, Lisa Mattingly Hodges, Sherrie Mattingly Simpson, Patrick Moore, David Moore, Marianne Moore, Sarah O’Daniel Fortuna, Anthony O’Daniel, Katie O’Daniel Comeens, Rick Moore, Emily Moore, Zach Moore, Scott Moore, and Morgan Moore.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
