STAFF REPORT

Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, 1:10 p.m. (Updated 5 p.m.) — Crume Drug Store is back open this afternoon after it was closed this morning when the FBI executed a search warrant at approximately 8 a.m.

According to 1320 WBRT, an FBI spokesman confirmed the agency was part of an ongoing healthcare fraud investigation that is being conducted in collaboration with the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services and the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy.

During lunchhour, Bardstown Officer Tim Simpson and a Kentucky State Police trooper remained posted at the front door of the pharmacy located at 111 W. Flaget Ave. The officers turned away customers who were hoping to enter the store. The store’s rear entrance was left unguarded at lunch, and at least one customer entered the business. A white cargo van was parked at the rear door, filled with a variety of boxes.

Video crews from Louisville TV stations were parked along West Flaget and mingling on the street and in the adjacent city parking lot.

This van filled with boxes was parked at the rear entrance to the drug store.

Crume Drug Store is owned by Tim and Robbin Sizemore. Officers told customers the store would be closed the rest of the day, though reports to the Gazette newsroom indicated the business re-opened by mid-afternoon.
