Louisville man faces charges after police learn he was in a stolen vehicle
Thursday, March 1, 2012, 1:40 a.m. — A Louisville man arrested early Wednesday morning for public intoxication faces additional charges after it was discovered he was in a stolen vehicle.
Ricky Allen Montgomery, 31, of Louisville, was arrested by Bardstown Police after Officer Nathan Phillips responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle parked at a construction site on KY 245 near the Templin Avenue intersection. Montgomery was found inside a silver Nissan Frontier pickup truck parked at the construction site. The Nissan was not registered to Montgomery, nor was it reported as stolen. Montgomery was arrested and taken to the Nelson County Jail and the truck was secured and left at the construction site.
Later Wednesday morning, Bardstown Police were informed by Louisville Metro Police the vehicle Montgomery was found in was reported stolen by its owners about 8 a.m. that morning. The vehicle apparently was taken overnight and its owner did not discover the theft until later Wednesday morning. The vehicle was recovered from the construction site.
Police said in a press release they plan to present evidence to the Nelson County Grand Jury and seek to charge Montgomery with receiving stolen property-automobile.
