New Haven woman dies in ATV accident Saturday in LaRue Co.

Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, 9:30 p.m. — Funeral arrangements are complete for a New Haven woman who drowned Saturday night when she and a companion went riding on an ATV in LaRue County several miles south of Howardstown after heavy rains passed through the area.
According to WAVE TV 3, Valerie Jean Holt, 28, drowned when the ATV she was on was overturned by the current as she and her companion tried to cross South Otter Creek. The man was able to escape, but he was unable to hang on to Holt. The man spent nearly two hours trapped on a bank before other friends could reach him.
Holt’s body was found Sunday afternoon in the Rolling Fork River, about six miles north of the site of the crash.
