Man injured Friday in tractor rollover accident on Summers Lane

Friday, May 29, 2015, 11 p.m. — A man was injured Friday afternoon in a tractor rollover accident on a farm located at the end of Summer’s Lane near the Rolling Fork River not far from the Botland emslogocommunity. The mishap was reported by the victim’s wife at about 1:43 p.m. Nelson County EMS and the Bardstown Fire Department were called to the scene.

According to personnel on the scene, the tractor operator, a man in his 60s, was operating on a embankment when the tractor rolled over on top of him. The man told first-responders he lost consciousness briefly. The tractor rolled off the man and traveled on down the embankment.

The Bardstown Fire Department was called to assist EMS with accessing the victim, who was still down the embankment. Firefighters also assisted EMS by setting up a landing zone for a medical helicopter. The man suffered contusions on the right side of his chest and upper back and complained of difficulty breathing. He was flown by helicopter to University Hospital in Louisville for evaluation and treatment.
