Hardin Co. driver injured after school bus leaves roadway, hits home

Monday, April 11, 2016, 9 p.m. — A Hardin County school bus driver was seriously injured when the bus she was driving crashed into a home Monday ksp_sealon Leitchfield Road near Stephensburg.

Troopers from KSP Post 4 in Elizabethtown were dispatched Monday afternoon at about 3:25 after bus driver Jennifer M. Leon, 38, of Eastview, lost control of the bus. The bus ran through the yards of three homes before striking the home at 9799 Leitchfield Road. None of the 50 children on board were injured.

The Stephensburg Fire Department had to extricate Leon from the bus. She was flown by helicopter to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. KSP was also assisted at the scene by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office and Hardin County EMS.

The accident remains under investigation.
