‘Hacked’ email message displayed for a short time to Gazette readership

Tuesday, July 16, 2019 — The text of a common email scam was inadvertently posted on the Nelson County Gazette for a short period of time Monday night. The post may have created concern among readers that their computers may have been affected or hacked.

The post was deleted once it was detected and the site’s passwords changed and additional security protocols were put in place.

The Gazette staff apologizes for the confusion or concern the post may have created for its readers.
